I have been reading some of the post you guys have put up. I have been through 4 years of pure torment trying to get chase to modify our loan. They had us on a "making homes affordable modification" at long last ,and after the 3 month trial period we got 2 letters. One stated that we did not make our payments and therefore we were kicked out of the program, the other said, congratulations you have successfully completed your trial period. I had already had so much frustration because we kept sending them paper work that they asked for and they kept saying that they did not receive it. So we sent our payments certified so they would have to sign for it. I sent them all the documentation and they just replied that just because I had the paperwork that it did not prove that they got the payment on time! Can you believe that?since then we have filled out so much paperwork over and over again and we have been almost foreclosed on 4 or 5 more times. The whole thing has taken 4 yrs. We were just offered a modification last Friday, of course they are going to tack on all the back payments and interest even if it was their fault that nothing was done sooner. The only advise I can give anyone is to not give up, call congressmen get in touch with a housing counselor anything to buy some time they will stall especially if you get your congressman in on it. Now don't get me wrong ,they will not stop it, it will just buy you some time. Then I signed up with NACA which is free. The only thing I can say about them is at least when you send in paperwork you send it to them, they will in turn send it to the mortgage company. That way they cannot deny that they have it. A big reason we got a modification, is because of the law handed down by the president where they made these mortgage companies pay people back for foreclosing on them. they also have new oversight for these companies so that if they don't give people modifications they will be penalized greatly especially if you are a vet or a service member. secondly, you can't just do nothing. I know how nerve racking it is. I started having strokes and I am disabled now, and I promise you Chase is largely at fault, but my husband is disabled from a gunshot wound to the head and it is hard for him to change his environment, else wise I would have happily moved out. I am sure that is what they wanted. Most of all pray, God is the only reason why we are still here. If you don't know him, now would be a good time. I hope this helps someone. Mike and Belinda
